Course Organization

Module-Unit-Lesson

Each online course is organized into modules, which are divided into units, which are then made up of lessons. Each module provides a framework for pacing yourself as you work through the course. There are 4-6 modules in a semester.

Every module contains units that cover different topics being studied. Each unit is organized around a particular idea to be covered. Within each unit are lessons that cover objectives and questions that help you engage with and understand the ideas.

Each lesson varies, but all contain an array of instructional pieces, participation activities, assignments, and quizzes. Your courses may have activities or assessments such as essays, tests, projects, and labs depending on the subject matter.

In your online course, you will see a list of activities for the semester divided into weeks. The title of each activity contains an indicator with numbers that refer to the module, unit, and lesson number within the course. These indicators are present to help you identify your place in the course.
